artist statement
I create. I do this as a result of my relentless need for perspective. I worship the power of imagination because it gives us the facility to creatively interpret and define life on our own terms. My work can be seen as a moving contemplation on man's quest to radically free himself from the tyranny of social conformity and express who and what he really is.
Having to navigate painstaking crises as a young child, and utterly dissatisfied with the inadequate explanations given to surmise my circumstances, I experimented with using both music and religious practice as frameworks for truth-seeking, consolation and transcendence. In this way my work began during my childhood. These early experiments prompted a lifelong intrigue with three questions in particular: how do we come to authentic selfhood, how do we transform pain, and how do we define the stories of our lives in ways that are meaningful?
These core themes have greatly informed my work as a singer-songwriter, author, transformational coach, and multidisciplinary content creator. I offer my music, prose, personal growth sessions and digital media as a backdrop for self-inquiry. Through these mediums, I seek to push the boundaries of perception and help my audience to shift, remix and evolve.
